Philippines - one of the best places in the world - not only for Scuba Diving!
There are more more than 7000 islands in the Philippines, I am sure, you will find the
perfect place for you, for your holidays, or maybe also to live here the whole year, or at
least during winter time, to escape the cold season in Europe (or America, New
If you are not a scuba diver now, the Philippines are a good place to start your scuba
diving experience in one the the many dive centers in
Of course, it is a long way to the Philippines, especially
if you come from Europe. So take your time. Your holidays should be a least three weeks
here in the Philippines, better more, if possible. It is easy to extend the 3 weeks
standard visa in every major city here.
When I go from Europe to the Philippines for my diving vacations, I always fly with Qatar
Airways - if you join the Qatar
Airways Privilege Club already before you book your first flight with
Qatar, you can very fast reach the first level (there a 3 levels: Burgundy, Silver and
Gold) and you have already an additional baggage allowance of 10kg. I am
a Gold member now and have a baggage allowance of additional 20kg to the
normal baggage allowance - perfect for the diving equipment (or even to bring some souvenirs from the Philippines and some chocolate to the Philippines).
As a Gold member you can use the Qatar Oryx & Silve Lounge in the Airport (for free) -
a very good place to stay in between the flights, with a special room for smokers (I
stopped smoking already), with free food and drinks, free internet access (yes, they have
also some computers there, if you don't bring your own laptop or tablett...)...
When you arrive in the Philippines (I prefer to fly to
Cebu City instead of Manila) you can continue your trip to your destination in the
Philippines with one of the many domestic flights. Don't forget to book some additional
weight for your luggage in advance if you bring your diving equipment - it is much more cheaper...
Wherever you will stay in the Philippines, the (Dive-) Resort (or the Dive Center) will
arrange the transport for you, just inform them in time, of your arrival here in the Philippines.
To be continued soon...
In the meantime take a look at
some underwater pictures from my last diving in Southern Leyte (Pintuyan Dive Resort), or
visit Scuba Dive Philippines at Facebook - don't forget to like "Scuba Dive Philippines" ;-) - here you find some nice
Diving Posters and Posters of the Philippinea.
